Adesso basta... ti prego ti prego ti prego basta pioggia!!!!!!!!
Non chiedo temperature tropicali, ma non voglio nemmeno dover tirare fuori dal cellophane il piumino che OVVIAMENTE avevo già portato a lavare!
Dopo un inverno secondo me mite e i primi mesi dell'anno stupendi... aprile è stato una schifezza. Non solo piove da due settimane, ma fa freddooooooo... non sono freddolosa, ma vedere le inglesi ancora con cappotto e stivali un po' mi preoccupa.
E io rosico vedendo le foto di amici già in spiaggia... quando a me basterebbe un pomeriggio in maglietta...

I don't ask for tropical temperatures, but I don't want to pull out of the cellophane my winter jacket that OBVIOUSLY has been already dry cleaned.

After a mild winter and beautiful first months this year April has been disgusting. Has not only been raining for two weeks, but it's chilly... Normally I'm not afraid by the cold, but seeing British girls still wearing boots and coat is frightening me.

And then I see pics from Italian friends on the beach... just a t-shirt would be enough for me...

Vorrei un po' di sole... e un po' di colori, magari pastello, come le casine di Londra...

Un anno fa, mentre Kate traslocava a Buckingham Palace, io trascorrevo il mio primo weekend nella casina londinese.

Me lo ricordo benissimo... La mia base era ancora italiana, lo e' stata ancora per qualche mese, giusto 3 giorni, per prendere possesso della casina e per traslocare gli scatoloni di A. dalla sua casa vecchia in questa. Le mie cose erano, ed in parte lo sono ancora, sparse in giro...

La ricerca non e' stata facile, abbiamo visto certe schifezze! Ma quando l'abbiamo trovata.... beh... dita incrociate per un mesetto perche' qui non e' proprio detto fatto. Anche per l' affitto c'e' un iter, che a pensarci ora e' una sciocchezza... ma passare da quel UNDER OFFER al LET... beh, si sta qualche giorno col mal di pancia (e in attesa che ti chiedano anche quante mutande tu abbia nel cassetto... esagero, ma in effetti non scherzano con le referenze, soprattutto se, come nel mio caso, non hai una storia pregressa in UK).

A year ago, while Kate was moving to Buckingham Palace, I spent my first weekend in the new home in London.

I clearly remember... I was still based in Italy, for a few months, they were just 3 days to take possession of the little house and to move A's stuff from his previous house to this one. My things were and still are scattered around...

The research hasn't been easy, we saw some horrible options. But when we found the right one... well, fingers crossed for at least a month because it hasn't been so easy. Even if you rent there is a process, that if I think about today it's really a joke, but to pass from UNDER OFFER to LET , well, we spent some days with a stomach ache (waiting for somebody to ask you how many pants you have in your drawer... I'm exaggerating but here references are a serious matter especially if, like me, you have no background in UK).

La prima cosa che ho imparato... la pulizia, anche se teoricamente professionale, non ha nulla a che vedere con gli standard minimi! Per fortuna la casina era bella e nuova di per se', o meglio, nel complesso la situazione era buona... ma a ben guardare, che schifo!

Non scherzo, la prima cosa che ho fatto e' stata correre da Poundland! E mi ricordo di aver speso una fortuna in detersivi e spazzoloni (ci vuole un certo impegno a spendere una fortuna da Poundland, dove tutto costa £1.00!)

Giusto per fare un esempio: sono fuori che lavo i vetri dall'esterno... passa una vicina e mi dice "bella idea, io non l'ho mai fatto!"

The first thing I learned is that a professional cleaning is far away from the minimum standard! Fortunately the house was nice and new, or rather the overall situation was fine... but on closer inspection, what a mess! 

I'm not joking, as a first thing I run to Poundland and I spent a fortune on detergents and brushes (by the way, it take some efforts to spend a fortune at Poundland, where everything is £1.00!)

Just to give an example, I was cleaning the windows from outside and a neighbor told me "how a nice idea, I've never done it!"

Oggi mammismo...

Non sono una mammona (lei stessa può confermarlo) ma questo post è tutto dedicato alla mia mamy!

Complice un'esposizione di lavori artigianali a cui ha partecipato, finalmente ha raccolto un po' dei suoi lavori (mannaggia non ero presente...)

E non posso non mostrarveli...

I'm not a mammon (she can attest herself) but this post is entirely dedicated to my mum!

She took part to an exhibition of crafts, so finally she picked up her works (unfortunately I hasn't been there...)

And I must show them...

Si tratta di biancheria per il letto, il bagno e la cucina con pizzi cuciti a mano. Gli accostamenti di colori sono inusuali, per pezzi originali e personalissimi nati per adattarsi perfettamente agli ambienti a cui sono destinati.

They are bed linen, towels and tablecloths with hand sewed laces. The colours are unusual, for original and very personalized pieces born to perfectly suit the space where they are placed.

Così il rosa, il rosso e il viola vanno d'accordo...

So pink fits in with red and purple too...

Chi ama i colori neutri gioca con le sfumature candide a naturali...

Conoscete Emma Bridgewater? Probabilmente si'... ma in caso contrario, oggi ve la presento.

Emma ha fondato il suo marchio nel 1985, cercando un regalo originale per la sua mamma... ed ora e' un'azienda solida che gestisce con il marito (un sogno insomma...)

Tipicamente inglese, ma con un tocco "mediterraneo"... a me lo spessore delle sue ceramiche ricordava tanto il servizio siciliano che ho rubato a mia mamma... ed in effetti, leggendo la storia sul sito internet, una delle sue ispirazioni e' stata proprio la terracotta italiana!

Decorate a mano, le fantasie sono una rivisitazione di motivi classici, ma appaiono decisamente contemporanee, e a tratti pop.

Do you know Emma Bridgewater? Probably you do... but if not, I'll introduce her.

Emma has established her brand in 1985, while she was looking for an original present for her mum... and now her brand is a competitive company that she runs with her husband (basically... a dream!)

The style is typically British  but with something Mediterranean... the thick pottery reminded me some Sicilian plates I had from my mum... and I've just discovered from the website that  the Italian terracotta is one of her inspirations!

Decorated by hand, the patterns are   an interpretation of classical designs, but they look modern and a little pop.

Ce n'è per tutti i gusti... animali, cuori, stelline, Union Jack...

There's something to suit everybody's fancy... animals, hearts, stars, Union Jack...

Si trovano davvero dappertutto, nei monomarca (quello di Fulham e' un gioiellino!) come in qualsiasi negozio e grande magazzino con reparto cucina! E la buona notizia, per chi non fosse UK based, e' che acquistando on line si possono avere spedizioni in tutta Europa!

Altra cosa che ho scoperto da poco: si puo' anche avere il proprio pezzo Emma Bridgewater personalizzato! Da tenere presente...

You can find them everywhere, in the stores (I love the one in Fulham!) or in the kitchen corner in the main department stores! And the good news is that they can be delivered all over Europe buying on-line!

Last but not not least discovery to remember: you can personalize your gift!

Spring mood

Basta guardare le vetrine, o qualsiasi blog di moda... i colori pastello e il pizzo sono ovunque!
A me piacciono da sempre, quindi non farò una grande fatica ad adeguare il mio look ai dettami delle tendenze...

Le mie amiche mi prendono spesso in giro perché il mio guardaroba pullula di colore e fantasie floreali... d'estate o d'inverno sono spesso decisamente poco sobria...
Sono piuttosto malata di shopping, anche se Londra mi sta "mitigando"... c'è davvero di tutto, ma il bello è che con il via libera agli accostamenti più impensabili le combinazioni si moltiplicano! Ovviamente non ci ho messo molto ad adattarmi, tanto qui a chi importa? Per quanto dia libero sfogo alla mia fantasia rimango la più normale sul vagone della metro!
La cosa positiva è che anche pezzi che giacevano addormentati nell'armadio (non butto mai nulla!) sono stati rispolverati... con grande gioia delle mie finanze...

I've always loved this style, so it isn't a big effort for me to adapt my look to these trends dictates...

My friends often pokes fun on me because my wardrobe is full of colours and floral patterns... both in summer and in winter I'm not properly serious...

I'm pretty addicted to shopping, but London is calming me... there's really whatever you want, but with the green light to the most unexpected combinations the possibilities multiply. Obviously it doesn't take me long to adapt, who cares? As far as I leave my imagination free I remain the most normal in a tube coach! The positive thing is that pieces that lay asleep in my closet (never throw anything!) have been dusted off... with great pleasure of my balance...
