HAPPY EASTER

Quindi quale augurio migliore?

BUONA PASQUA A TUTTI!

My friends know that I love the bunnies...
so, there's no better wish than this one.

HAPPY EASTER!

The cartoon on top comes from a card that my friend Helen gave me, so cute!

Easter... already?

While I was disconnected from internet I missed all the posts for Valentine's Day... I cannot skip also the appointment with Easter.
Maybe because the weather is still so cold
or because I am focused on something else
or because I won't go back to Italy (we have guests!)
or because only few timid little flowers are now sprouting and spring is still a mirage...
or mainly because with all the mess in my house I have absolutely no idea of where my crafty stuff is and I cannot make anything
I have just realized that it's already Easter.

A quick visit to Poundland took me back to the reality: decorated eggs and bunnies, yellow, pink and white everywhere, millions of fluffy chicks, those I used to have when I was a child and that never stand.
But since I am still far from getting back to my crafty room, my inspiration for this Easter looks at the kitchen and at the table decoration.
I'm still in time for preparing something!

Into my mind

"Inspired by the design philosophy to permanently borrow and make pretty things..." le sue signorine si fanno inspirare dalle cose belle e luccicose, hanno le testa in fermento, capelli scompigliati.

In my mind there is a continuous work... which would not be bad by itself.
But, most of the times my thoughts are just in my head. And they are very fast.
People who are close to me are convinced that I say one thing and do something else... that in the end is true, but they miss the process. In my mind, there are a whole series of steps that lead me to a conclusion, maybe different from where I started, but I can assure you that these steps are quite logic.
Anyway... the problem is that sharing the whole mechanism would mean to talk a lot, and I'm not very good at this.
I'm sorry if sometimes I leave someone out.
Apart from this strange monologue... I found the images of the illustrator Magpie Belle and I fell in love with them.

"Inspired by the design philosophy to permanently borrow and make pretty things..." the ladies are inspired by beautiful and sparkling things, have the head in turmoil, ruffled hair. It seems that in their minds there is a world in motion, a nest of ideas and thoughts, not always clear and maybe perhaps a bit confused...

A new floor makes the difference

There is still much to do... we are living in a mess.
But for us the works last week have been the turning point, the house became an home, our home.

The sofa arrived, which is a great success: we can sit on something more comfortable than a chair. It is the only piece of furniture that we have bought so far, besides the bed... and is also the only piece of furniture that we have except for the table that we already had and moved with us.

We have removed the horrible spots lights with alternating colours. Very 80's but very little light (such a bad taste!). The bulbs are temporary, but they make the difference!

And above all... We have the floor! Just one wood in the living room and in the kitchen, an oak floor with a hint of gray... I love it, it is neutral, but at the same time it is warm and welcoming and it seems already used.
We started with the kitchen only, thinking to keep the floor that was in the living room. But in the end, considering hat for sanding and polishing the cost would have been slightly cheaper, all gone... and now we have a new floor all over!

Before
After

Well, work in progress... we still have a lot to do, but at least now the base is ready!

Very British

I've collected a lot of images, I'm constantly looking for inspiration.
I should add that I'm also lucky to do a job that I love... wallpapers, colours, furniture, plaster mouldings and other details are my daily bread.
I'm originally from another country, here tastes and traditions are different from my background... so I'm learning more and more every day.

The English style is so particular: white and dark colours, mostly cool, blues, grays, greens.
High skirting, mouldings, timber and plaster... everything is very classic, but I wonder why (I'm still looking for an answer) the result is rarely ordinary. Indeed, there is always something unexpected, old, eclectic, almost shabby that I really like...

As in this house.
