I'm in trouble...

Sono nei guai...

Ho sempre amato:

i colori caldi, 

la mescolanza di stili, 

qualcosa di etnico e orientale, 

un tocco di oro, 

qualcosa di barocco. 

Ecco, se dovessi definire il mio perfetto, questo sarebbe il riassunto (finora).

Ma ora che succede? 

Iniziano a piacermi case come questa, dove il bianco regna sovrano, con qualche accenno di colore freddo, beige e grigio, legno e metallo grezzi. Molto English, un po' shabby... 

Ripeto: sono nei guai!

I'm in trouble...

I've always loved:

warm colors,

mixed styles,

something ethnic and oriental,

a touch of gold,

something baroque.

Well,  this would be the definition of my perfect style till now.

But now what happens?

I'm starting to like home like this one, where the white reigns supreme, with some hints of cool colour, beige and grey, wood and raw metal. Very English, a little shabby...

I repeat: I'm in trouble!

Happy Tartan

Lo scozzese mi perseguita accompagna praticamente da sempre. Ero una bambina con i kilt, poi un'adolescente con la cameretta scozzese ovviamente coordinata con quella di mio fratello. Un giorno mio fratello è passato dal letto singolo a quello più grande... e così ho ereditato pure il suo corredo, portandomelo in valigia all'università.

The tartan always haunts goes with me. I was a little girl with a kilt, then a teenager with a tartan room of course coordinated with my brother's one. One day my brother went to a double bed... and so I also get his set and I went to the university with my tartan duvet.

Dopo qualche annetto di pausa, il minimo direi, ci sono ricaduta, si vede che è nei geni!

Ora uso spesso il tartan: gonne e accessori (sempre quelli di cui sopra... alla fine i kilt sono tornati nella loro patria) che mi piace abbinare al jeans, a qualcosa di molto femminile come il pizzo, o anche al maculato, tanto qui ti puoi mettere quello che vuoi!

After a few years of rest, I felt again, it must be in the genes.

Now I often wear tartan skirts and accessories (again the ones mentioned above... at the end my kilts are back in their native country). I like to match it with the denim, with something very feminine as the lace, or even with something spotted, who cares in London?

Aspettando di andare in Scozia, un tocco tartan anche in casa mi torna a piacere.

mi piace l'accostamento ad altre fantasie forti, magari floreali o cachemire

quasi quasi mi piace anche la moquette, magari per un tappeto...

New look

Stanno cambiando tantissime cose... negli ultimi mesi siamo come saliti su una ruota che continua a girare, per fortuna nel verso giusto! Mi chiedo se sia così, passettino dopo passettino, che succedono le cose... Che si dà un'impronta alla propria vita? 

Non voglio essere troppo filosofica, ma a volte mi capita ancora ora di stupirmi di dove sono, di quello che sto facendo... è come se da qualche parte nella mia testa questa vita londinese fosse in un certo senso un'esperienza, una parentesi dalla vita reale... e invece no, questa è vita vera! Forse questa non è una deviazione dalla strada principale, ma un'altra strada nuova...

Intanto che cerco di fare pace col mio cervello, e intanto che fuori da internet tutto cambia, l'Atelier Buffo non poteva rimanere indietro... quindi... nuovo look!

Il logo è rimasto uguale, ci sono affezionata, è lo stesso dal principio: è opera di Cate e del suo appoggio, mi ricorda gli inizi, i dubbi che avevo, i consigli di cui non potevo fare a meno.

Anche la citazione è rimasta: è una frase di Modigliani che ho trovato su un segnalibro a Vienna anni fa, che da allora è sempre con me.

Però il resto è cambiato, avevo voglia di qualcosa più leggero.

Trovate un po' della storia dell'Atelier Buffo e di me che ci sto dietro: sta diventando sempre più una raccolta delle mie ispirazioni e di quello che mi piace sul tema "casa", dei progetti che faccio con le mie mani, un diario della mia vita da emigrata in questa città che... lo dico chiaro... ADORO!  E siccome in questa avventura non sono sola, nella vignetta trovate anche A.!

A lot of things are changing... recently it's like we got on a wheel that keeps spinning, luckily in the right direction! I wonder if this is the way that things happen, step by step? Is this the way to give a direction to your life? I do not want to be too deep, but sometimes I'm still surprised where I am, what I'm doing... it's like somewhere in my head this London life was just an experience, a break from the real life... But it isn't , this is real life indeed! Maybe this is not a diversion from the main road, but a different new road...

While I'm trying to make up my mind and while out of the web everything is changing, the Atelier Buffo cannot be left behind... so new look for the header as well!

The logo is the same since the beginning, I love it, has been designed by Cate, reminds me her support, the beginnings, the doubts I had, the suggestions which I could not do without.

Even the quote is still there: it's a phrase by Modigliani that I found on a bookmark years ago in Vienna that is always with me.

But everything else has changed, I was looking for something lighter.

You can see a bit of the Atelier Buffo story, and of me behind: it is becoming more and more a collection of my inspirations and what I like about the"home",  of the projects I make with my hands, a diary of my life as an emigrated in London, a city that... I say it clearly... I LOVE! And since I am not alone in this adventure, you can also find A.!

Ombre tassels

Tralasciando il fatto che da Antropologie comprerei tutto (per fortuna ci sono le tazze!)... a volte mi consolo solo facendoci solo un giretto: vetrine ed allestimenti sempre una bella ispirazione.

Un pò tribale, un pò shabby, un po' vintage e tanto recupero, la mescolanza mi affascina: c'è un equilibrio tra stili diversi che riesce a non degenerare.

A bit tribal, a bit shabby, a bit vintage and a lot of recovered stuff, the mix fascinates me: the different styles are always well balanced.

Nel negozio in King's Road sono apparsi enormi addobbi appesi, un po' ghirlande e un po' chandelier, fatti di nappine di spago di corda, e di tulle, nei toni naturali e con un tocco di rosa.

Quindi, ispirata da Antropologie, ecco il mio progetto:

In the shop in King's Road appeared huge hanging decorations, something between garlands and chandeliers, made ​​by tassels done with rope and tulle, in neutral tones with a touch of pink.

Più precisamente, per fare le nappine vi consiglio questo tutorial, mentre per la fase di colorazione seguite attentamente le istruzioni sulla confezione del prodotto che usate. 

Alcuni consigli: 

- fate la colorazione all'esterno, il rischio di macchiare è altissimo!

- per ottenere la sfumatura, immergete la parte più alta per poco tempo, mentre lasciate le punte in immersione più a lungo

- alla fine, risciacquate con acqua solo la parte tinta per evitare di che il colore vada anche sulla parte bianca

- lasciate asciugare a lungo...


More precisely, to make the tassels I recommend this tutorial, while for the colouring step follow the instructions on the packaging of the product you use.

A few tips:
- do the second phase outside, the risk of staining is high!
- in order to obtain the gradient, dip the highest part for a short time, while leave the tips in immersion longer
- at the end, rinsed with water only the coloured part to avoid that the colour goes on the white part
- let them dry for a long time...

Ho utilizzato uno spago 100% cotone per essere sicura che la colorazione funzionasse.
I used a 100% cotton string to make sure that the colour works.

Per completare, ho aggiunto un anello e finito le nappine alla maniera classica arrotolando il filo alla sommità.

Then, I added a ring and finished the tassels in the traditional way by rolling the string at the top.
