Meglio naturale

L'anno scorso avevo sperimentato gli addobbi con la pasta di sale. Avevo fatto dei tag per i pacchetti di Natale, che potete vedere qui.

Erano venuti abbastanza bene, e devo dire che a un anno di distanza esistono ancora e sono solidi. I tag erano argento, li avevo colorati con una bomboletta spray.

Avevo un po' esagerato con le dosi… così avevo pasta di sale in abbondanza… con quella rimasta eccone altri!

Questi sono rimasti al naturale, asciugando la pasta rimane color crema, un bianco caldo. Mi piacevano argento, ma forse li preferisco così.

Tante stelline fatte con gli stampi dei biscotti, mentre per le righe ho usato l'arnese per rigare gli gnocchi (possibile che non abbia un nome?)

Tante, tantissime stelline da appendere all'albero o sui pacchetti regali. 

Le ho poi confezionate in semplici barattoli di vetro.

 Non sono un'idea regalo carina?

Summertime

Si dice sottovoce che non si sa mai... al momento la temperatura è costante intorno ai 23 gradi, non ci si può proprio lamentare.
Piove un pochino, ma va bene anche così... se penso all'estate 2012 umida e fredda (ancora non ho superato lo shock), questa è decisamente un regalo inaspettato!

E così ho voglia di colori... tanti, tutti insieme, vivaci, brillanti, solari...

BUON FERRAGOSTO!

WANTED: Summer

" Senti, ma tu cosa ne pensi se..."
Quando A. inizia una frase con questa premessa mi allarmo, vuol dire che sta cambiando idea rispetto a qualcosa che gia' avevamo deciso, o che mi sta dicendo qualcosa che non mi fara' piacere.

Per fortuna stavolta era la prima... e per farla breve: i nostri progetti di vacanza in Cornovaglia stanno vacillando. Mi stupisco che la cosa non sia venuta da me, ma non posso biasimarlo...
La causa non e' altro che questa estate schifosa, questa pioggia continua, la voglia di uscire in maglietta e dimenticarsi di tutto... maglionicino, giacca, ombrello, sciarpa, magari anche scarpe di ricambio in borsa.
Fortunatamente non abbiamo prenotato nulla e c'e' ancora tempo... quindi io voglio dare ancora fiducia al cielo inglese... poi vedremo, magari all'ultimo cambiamo idea e ci dirottiamo su un'isola greca!

When A. begins a sentence with this premise I'm alarmed, it means he is changing his mind about something already decided, or he's telling me something that would probably drive me mad.  

Fortunately it was the first thing... let me tell you shortly: our holiday plans in Cornwall are tottering. I am surprised that it's not due to me, but I cannot blame him...

The cause is just this terrible summer, this notstop rain, the desire to go out with a shirt and to forget all the rest, the sweater, the jacket, the umbrella, the scarf, maybe even another pair of shoes.

Fortunately we haven't booked anything and we have time... so I want to even trust the English weather... then we will see, maybe at the last minute we will deviate to a Greek island!

Nice bath mats (ho un problema coi tappetini del bagno)

Tutto ciò che fa bagno non mi piace. Intendo tutti quegli oggetti che sono fatti apposta per essere messi lì...
E' come se in bagno dovessero stare solo oggetti "con meno valore", con meno personalità.
Sarà per quello che invece io tendo a collocare in bagno altre cose, che dovrebbero stare altrove. E così il bagno diventa un'altra stanza da arredare e a cui donare una sua personalità.
Trovo divertente cercare alternative da riutilizzare come porta sapone ecc, dare agli oggetti una nuova funzione diversa da quella standard...
Poi in bagno mi piacciono i quadri, le stampe... ma questo potrebbe essere un altro post in futuro.

I don't like anything related to the bathroom. I mean all the objects that are designed to be placed there... It's like they are thought to have less value, less character.

Probably for this reason I tend to put other things in the bathroom, objects that are supposed to be used elsewhere. So the bathroom becomes another room to be designed and to whom give a personality.

I enjoy looking for alternatives to use as soap case and giving a different function to the objects.

Then, I like also pictures on the bathroom walls... but this could be a future post.

Ma se parlando di oggetti qualcosa tollero, ho un'avversione particolare per i classici tappetini del bagno. Fosse per me metterei un tappeto vero (e per un po' l'ho anche fatto...) ma è davvero poco funzionale e non si asciuga mai! 

Recentemente ho trovato questi:

Talking about accessories, I can tolerate something, but what I really can't stand are the traditional bath mats. If it were just for me, I would put a proper rug (I've done for a while...) but it is not practical and it never dries!

A righe, colorati, con un tocco gold in contrasto con il pavimento a scacchi bianchi e neri.

Me li ha regalati la mamma in visita (bancarella di Portobello). Per Antropologie sono tovagliette, ma la misura più grande vi assicuro che è sufficiente per poterli usare come tappetini.

They are a present from my mum (from a stall at Portobello). Antropologie classifies them as place mats, but the bigger size is enough to be used as mats.

Fabric tape

Avevo smesso di conservare tutto per futuri utilizzi, di riempirmi di pezzi di qualcosa che poi tanto non usavo mai, ma complice il blog e il mio lavoro, sto ricominciando ad ammucchiare tra le altre cose scampoli di tessuti.
Poi mi sono imbattuta in un'idea carinissima e geniale per la sua semplicità: il nastro adesivo di tessuto. Lavoretto che mi ha permesso di riutilizzare alcuni pezzi anche piccoli di varie stoffe...

I had stopped keeping everything for future use, storing pieces of everything that was hard to reuse, but due to the blog and my job I'm starting again to collect scraps of fabric, among other stuff.

Then I found this cute and brilliant idea, so simple: the fabric tape. So I could reuse even some small pieces of different fabrics...

Vi serve solamente qualche striscia di stoffa e un buono scotch bi-adesivo, oltre a un po' di precisione.

In attesa della prossima occasione per utilizzarli (un pacchetto regalo, un biglietto d'auguri, un decoro...) li ho arrotolati su tappi di sughero, la prima cosa adatta che ho trovato in casa... Si presentano anche bene per un regalino!

Waiting for the opportunity for using them (a nice package, a birthday card, a decoration...) I've rolled them up on corks, the first suitable thing I found at home... they are lovely also for a small gift!

Non è così semplice trovare un armadio alto e profondo, ma non eccessivamente lungo.
Avevo a disposizione una parete dal soffitto alto, ma stretta... così ho dovuto riutilizzare l'armadio a due ante che c'era già.
Ovviamente non mi piaceva... bianco ed anonimo, ma dalle misure perfette!

Quindi... colori e righe per riadattarlo ai miei gusti!

It's not easy to find an high and wide wardrobe not too long.

My wall was high-ceilinged, but a bit narrow... so I had to reuse the two doors wardrobe already there.

Obviously I didn't like it... it was too white and anonymous, but the sizes were perfect!

So... I re-designed it by colours and stripes!

Sulla restante parte della parete e sopra la porta: mensole integrative realizzate su misura... ho sfruttato ogni centimetro!

On the remaining part of the wall and over the door: supplementary tailored shelves... I managed to use every inches!

TIP: For the stripes I've used the same red as the door

Ma quanto mi sono divertita a ricostruire la camera in versione cartoon!!

Before and after: bathroom redecoration

Quando ho visto per la prima volta il bagno di quella che poi è diventata la mia prima casina... quasi piango!

Era proprio triste, anonimo, oltre che decisamente malmesso...

When I saw for the first time the bathroom of that later became my first home... almost cry!

It was really sad, anonimous, as well as very ugly...

Necessitava proprio di una seria ristrutturazione!

Ci sono volute parecchia fatica, qualche weekend di lavoro, un buon idraulico e l'inseparabile rullo per dipingere (comprese le piastrelle!)...

It just needed a serious renovation!

It took a lot of effort, some weekends spent working, a good plumber and my inseparable roller to paint (including tiles!)...

Ed ecco il risultato, giudicate voi!!

Delle piastrelle, in buono stato, proprio non mi piaceva il colore... quindi sono state ridipinte con una apposita vernice aggrappante.

The tiles were in good condition, but I didn't like the colour... Therefore, they were repainted with a special paint very adhesive.

Ho conservato i sanitari, mentre la rubinetteria è stata interamente sostituita, così come tutto il box doccia.

I kept the bathroom fittings, while the taps have been completely replaced, as well as the shower.

Invece degli armadietti arredo bagno, che a me personalmente non piacciono, ho scelto un mobile di Ikea.

La struttura e le ante vetrate sono il modello SMADAL, che Ikea censisce come libreria, ma la parete di fondo è stata ridipinta a righe gialle e rosa come le pareti verticali. I pomelli sono invece di Zara Home.

Instead of the cabinet, which I personally don't like, I chose a piece from Ikea.

The structure and gthe lass doors are the model SMADAL, that Ikea register as a bookshelf, but the wall inside has been painted with yellow and pink stripesas the walls. The knobs are from Zara Home.

Beh, lo specchio! Mi piaceva quello originario, grandissimo e con le lampade dal sapore retrò, tipo parrucchiere di una volta... Quindi l'ho tenuto, ma ho aggiunto una cornice bianca che lo ha ravvivato!

Well, the mirror! I liked the original one, large and with lights from the past, as those you could have seen once in the hairdressers'... So I kept it, adding a new white frame that revives it!
