Nice bath mats (ho un problema coi tappetini del bagno)

Tutto ciò che fa bagno non mi piace. Intendo tutti quegli oggetti che sono fatti apposta per essere messi lì...
E' come se in bagno dovessero stare solo oggetti "con meno valore", con meno personalità.
Sarà per quello che invece io tendo a collocare in bagno altre cose, che dovrebbero stare altrove. E così il bagno diventa un'altra stanza da arredare e a cui donare una sua personalità.
Trovo divertente cercare alternative da riutilizzare come porta sapone ecc, dare agli oggetti una nuova funzione diversa da quella standard...
Poi in bagno mi piacciono i quadri, le stampe... ma questo potrebbe essere un altro post in futuro.

I don't like anything related to the bathroom. I mean all the objects that are designed to be placed there... It's like they are thought to have less value, less character.

Probably for this reason I tend to put other things in the bathroom, objects that are supposed to be used elsewhere. So the bathroom becomes another room to be designed and to whom give a personality.

I enjoy looking for alternatives to use as soap case and giving a different function to the objects.

Then, I like also pictures on the bathroom walls... but this could be a future post.

Ma se parlando di oggetti qualcosa tollero, ho un'avversione particolare per i classici tappetini del bagno. Fosse per me metterei un tappeto vero (e per un po' l'ho anche fatto...) ma è davvero poco funzionale e non si asciuga mai! 

Recentemente ho trovato questi:

A righe, colorati, con un tocco gold in contrasto con il pavimento a scacchi bianchi e neri.

Striped, colourful, with a bit of gold in contrast with the black and white checkered floor.

Me li ha regalati la mamma in visita (bancarella di Portobello). Per Antropologie sono tovagliette, ma la misura più grande vi assicuro che è sufficiente per poterli usare come tappetini.

They are a present from my mum (from a stall at Portobello). Antropologie classifies them as place mats, but the bigger size is enough to be used as mats.

Pub style... and something else

Vi ricordate sale e pepe della Lego?
Li abbiamo usati per un po', e sono davvero carini... ma ammettiamolo non proprio funzionali.
Così ecco le new entries... decisamente più comodi, capienti e da vivere nella quotidianità, esattamente in stile pub.

We have used them for a while, and they are really nice, but let's say not very functional.

Sono accessori comodi, semplici e secondo me bellissimi perché classici e senza tempo.
Costano davvero poco, visto che si trovano ovunque! Io, ad esempio, li ho presi in uno di quei negozi ferramenta, casalinghi ecc ecc ecc che vendono di tutto.

I think they are accessories simple and beautiful because they are classical and timeless.

They are cheap, since they can be found everywhere! For instance, I bought them in one of those shops that sells everything, housewares, hardware...

Fabric tape

Avevo smesso di conservare tutto per futuri utilizzi, di riempirmi di pezzi di qualcosa che poi tanto non usavo mai, ma complice il blog e il mio lavoro, sto ricominciando ad ammucchiare tra le altre cose scampoli di tessuti.
Poi mi sono imbattuta in un'idea carinissima e geniale per la sua semplicità: il nastro adesivo di tessuto. Lavoretto che mi ha permesso di riutilizzare alcuni pezzi anche piccoli di varie stoffe...

I had stopped keeping everything for future use, storing pieces of everything that was hard to reuse, but due to the blog and my job I'm starting again to collect scraps of fabric, among other stuff.

Then I found this cute and brilliant idea, so simple: the fabric tape. So I could reuse even some small pieces of different fabrics...

Vi serve solamente qualche striscia di stoffa e un buono scotch bi-adesivo, oltre a un po' di precisione.

In attesa della prossima occasione per utilizzarli (un pacchetto regalo, un biglietto d'auguri, un decoro...) li ho arrotolati su tappi di sughero, la prima cosa adatta che ho trovato in casa... Si presentano anche bene per un regalino!

Waiting for the opportunity for using them (a nice package, a birthday card, a decoration...) I've rolled them up on corks, the first suitable thing I found at home... they are lovely also for a small gift!

Wish List

Ci sono acquisti meditati e non impulsivi, perche' non si e' convinti, perche' non sono proprio a buon mercato...
E ci sono acquisti che invece si fanno a cuor leggero, che ti fanno contenta, quegli acquisti che esci dal negozio e torni a casa a scartarli e a mostrarli tutta sorridente.

Per me sono gli acquisti del buon umore, non si spende una fortuna e sono oggetti talmente carini che il solo guardarli e' un piacere...
Inutile ricordare che sono nella patria delle cavolate... ops, scusate, volevo dire degli oggetti senza cui non si puo' vivere, ma ammetto quasi sempre superflui.

Quindi, ogni tanto mi concedo qualche capriccio, tra l'altro perdonabilissimo... Ecco la mia wish list del momento, compresi gli ultimi acquisti:

There are purchases that are thoughtful and not impulsive, because they are not exactly cheap...

And there are purchases that are made with a light heart, that make you happy, that when you leave the shop you go home, discard and show them smiling.

To me they are the purchases of the good mood, you don't have to spend a lot of money and they are so cute that just looking at them is a pleasure...

It's needless to say that I'm in the home of the stupid things... sorry, I meant things without which you cannot live, but almost always unnecessary.

I'm making progress in baking

Sono in lento ma progressivo miglioramento.

Lento perche' non ho tantissimo tempo... anche se a volte mi metto a impastare alle 11 di sera...

Progressivo perche' l'acquisita confidenza col forno ha nettamente migliorato le mie prestazioni.

Cosa aggiungere? Mi piace, mi diverte, e' per me un mondo nuovo che pero' mi da' qualche soddisfazione... (a volte mi accontento proprio di poco!)

I'm slowly but progressively making progress.

Slow 'cause I do not have time... although sometimes I start to knead at 11 pm...

Progressive 'cause I finally became familiar with my oven and this has significantly improved my performance.What else ? I like it, I enjoy it, and it's a new world that makes me proud (sometimes I'm happy just with little!)

Panini e grissini con olive... e meringhe

Focaccia con pomodorini

Ora, senza alcuna pretesa, ma anzi con molta modestia perche' davvero mi sento una principiante in materia, vorrei condividere con voi una ricetta.
E' la classica pasta frolla... ma magari vi e' utile.
Prima di trovare questa ne ho provate parecchie, e non avete idea delle parolacce... mi risultava troppo molle o troppo dura, sempre troppo appiccicosa!
Invece questa e' perfetta, anche per chi in cucina non e' un mago!


Now, without any pretension and with modesty because I really feel a novice at baking, I would like to share a recipe.
It is the classic short pastry and I hope it would be useful.
Before finding this one I've tried with several, with a lot of unsuccessful experiments... It was too soft or too hard, always too sticky.
Instead this is perfect, even if you are not a cooking wizard!


300g farina / plain flour
un cucchiaio di lievito / a tablespoon of yeast
succo di limone e scorzette / lemon juice and zest
125g burro / butter
75g zucchero a velo / icing sugar
2 uova / eggs
un pizzico di sale / a pinch of salt
estratto di vaniglia / vanilla extract



Ho scritto gli ingredienti nell'ordine in cui vanno aggiunti all'impasto
